Meet the Board of Directors


Kimberly M. Scott, Board President

Graduate of North Carolina Central University in 1994 with a BA degree in Political Science. Kimberly worked for Sodexho Marriott as a Human Resource Manager and Area Trainer for 17 years before meeting her husband, Astley Scott and starting a family. She has been blessed to have two beautiful children, a son Astley H Scott II and daughter Ashley M. Scott.

She leans on her faith and family to help guide her steps on this journey of life. She has had the experience of working with incredible people that have shaped her career in a space she refers to “public service.” Kimberly owes her solid foundation to her parents who displayed the importantance of helping people and sharing with her siblings that life is not a solo trip but it is a trip that requires others to ride along.

Her experience as a mother, seasoned human resources manager with Sodexho Marriott and holding various other leadership positions within non profits including League of Women Voters Frederick County, League of Women Voters Maryland, Frederick County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Hope Christian Fellowship Church has given her the tools to start Moving Us Forward Incorporated. Kimberly is committed and engerized to motivate individuals to achieve their goals of moving forward in life with needed tangible resources.


Avil H. Pulliam, Board Secretary

A native of Walstonburg, NC. Avil was taught at an early that hard work builds strong character. She started working in the tobacco fields with her family at the age of 9. Avil loves to tell stories about learning to drive on a tractor and having fun with her cousins. Growing up in a rural town, she developed an appreciation for things that many consider common – such as indoor plumbing. Avil is truly thankful for her humble beginnings and strives to improve herself daily.

Avil moved to Durham, NC after graduating from college. She currently works as a Registered Nurse for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Outpatient Primary Care. In her professional career, Avil has maintained an active role as a preceptor and mentor to new nurses. She trains staff members as a Safe Patient Handling Peer Leader to prevent patient and staff injuries. Avil is also a member of the Nurse Professional Standards Board for the Durham VA Healthcare System. Her warm smile and eternal optimism are a beacon to those that she encounters. Avil is married to Jermaine Pulliam and they have 2 children.

Tamera P. Jones, Board Treasury

Tamera P. Jones is passionate about helping women shift from just making good money to mastering the money they make. She understands through personal experience that earning more does not mean possessing more. Tamera passionately believes women not only have the power to make good money but build bigger bank accounts and live a lifestyle that exemplifies true freedom and personal wealth.

After nearly 12 years in corporate America working at Fortune 500 Companies with C-suite executives, Tamera took a leap of faith when it wasn’t popular to do so and left the "safety and security" of her "good" corporate job to follow her own vision and path to become an entrepreneur. She excelled at various corporate business and financial analyst roles as well as spent 10 years with a direct sales company growing and leading the largest organization and earning historic commissions.

Tamera graduated from North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance Degree and is a Board-Certified Credit Consultant, Master Financial Coach, and owner of TPJ World, LLC.

She is committed to personal development and her highest honor is to serve God and others. She resides in Delaware with her loving husband Warren.


Astley H Scott Sr. Board Director

Born in Jamaica W.I. migrated to the United States in 1987. Spouse of Kimberly M. Scott the founder of Moving Us Forward Inc. Owner of AM Electric Enterprise LLC since 1997 an electriacl construction and service company serving the residential and commercial marketplace in the DMV with cicruit system upgrades, lighting systems, elecrtical safety systems and much more.

A man of faith and prayer who seeks direction from God to direct his path. A love for music and singing which I do by partipating in my church praise and worship ministry. I believe that family values are key to building strong communities. My background with owning my own company has allowed me to identify individuals within disadvantage communities opportunties to develop a technical skill; that will enable them to provide financial stability for themselves and their families. I understand the role I play as an Afro Carribean man to uplift the young men of our commuties. Looking forward to help shaping our communities with Moving Us Forward Inc.

Margaret W, Davis, Board Director

Margaret Davis was born and raised in rural North Carolina. A graduate of Frink High School, LaGrange North Carolina. After graduating from High School she migrated to Washington, DC to attend Joghnson Business School. She worked for various government agencies for over 19 years. She entered the field of law becoming a legal secretary for 22 years and thus leaving retiring from McDermott, Will and Emery in Washington, DC in 2008.

She is married to her beloved husband Clifton Davis, Jr. She is the proud mother of three adult children, six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A memebr of Mt. Jezreel Missionary Baptist Church in Silver Spring, Md serving on the Prisonand Hospitality ministries. A member of her high school alumni association (the LaGrange-Frink Alumni and Friends Association) serving as coordinator of the Sunday Worship Services and Chair of the Nominating Committee. I am also a member of the Association’s DC Chapter, having served as Secretary for many years and one of the founders.

I am honored to have been choosen to be on the Board of “Moving Us Forward Inc.”

Service is an intergral part of my life as I was taught by example from my parents and grandparents.
